Overview:

Huawei has once again entered the competitive market with two new gadgets, P10 and P10 Plus the successors of P9 and P9 Plus. Once again Huawei’s motive was to compile a dominating Camera and impressive hardware, this could be Huawei’s best effort in its P series.

P10 has a dazzling 5.1 inch screen where as P10 Plus has a mesmerizing 5.5 inch, both have gorilla Glass 5 corning and 2.5D glass. P10 series is shipped in a variety of color options, including our favorite Graphite Black and dazzling Blue. P10 has the attractive iPhone like appearance with its smooth edges and curved corners, its also very thin and has a complete metal finish. Both of them are lightweight and easy to handle, users who don’t like large phones will definitely love the P10 series.

The fingerprint scanner has been moved to the front of the phone below the screen where it can be used as an on screen button. Instead of a physical button the scanner is built inside the glass, this gives the phone a much cleaner look. All the buttons including the power button lie on the right side of the phone. Looking at the back of the phone you can see that Huawei has used the “Hyper Diamond Cut” textured back, thus enhancing the overall beauty of the Smartphone. This refinement was for making it scratch resistant. On the top you can see two dual Leica Camera’s and two-tone LED Flash which blends in with the Aluminum body. Below the camera lies another surprise, iPhone inspired Antenna bands. Wrapped around the glass panel and painted in contrast to the phone color so you wont even notice them.

P10 houses a full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution (431 ppi) whereas P10 Plus features a QHD display with a 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution (534 ppi). Both devices use an IPS LCD Screen. P10 plus has an amazing display quality and showcases a lot of details, P10 isn’t that bad either you wont see much difference. It would have been appreciated if P10 also featured the extra pixels. The brightness and color vibrancy is spot on so viewing the screen in daylight wont be much of an issue. There’s a downside though, you wont be able to protect the display from greasy fingerprints and smudges. Huawei didn’t use the Oleophobic coating, this coating is applied on even the cheapest of Smartphones. Huawei also left out the water resistant feature, so if you accidentally drop it in a puddle or something, that’s good money wasted.

Huawei has introduced its new EMUI 5.1 in its P10 series, its a more customized version of Android 7.0. EMUI adds a number of improvements behind the screen, besides its usual performance, power and lifetime lengthening features. One of them being the multi-function application of the fingerprint scanner. Swiping to the left or right will take you to your previous on screen apps. Pressing it long enough will take you to the home screen. A quick press will take you to the back screen. It also offers a number of themes and display options. Both P10 and P10 Plus support Wi-Fi and VoLTE calling, along with its additional tweaks you will not be disappointed with EMUI’s fast performance.

Both the phones are powered with the Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor which is by no doubt competitive with the Samsung’s High end Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. P10 is powered with a 3,200 mAh battery capacity, whereas P10 Plus packs a 3,750 mAh battery which is more than sufficient to power its 5.5 inch display. Both of them deliver excellent battery life, after a full day usage you will be surprised with the extra battery juice remaining even in the smaller P10 version.

And finally the Camera. Huawei had partnered with Leica a year ago and manufactured P9’s Leica camera, now it has refined it onto the P10 and P10 Plus. Both the gadgets have 20 Megapixels rear camera’s but with different apertures. P10 has Summarit-H lenses (f/2.2 aperture) and P10 Plus has Summilux-H lenses with a bigger f/1.8 aperture. You get solid performance from both the Smartphones, they show case extravagant details and even better shots in daylight. The colors displayed are accurate and real life with perfect saturation and contrast levels. The front 12 Megapixels selfie cameras are also superb, they light up the subjects face and smooth out the skin tone and blemishes. The camera automatically dims out the background hence setting the user at the center of attention. The portrait mode pops out beautiful colors and takes amazing shots of people. If your a selfie freak then P10 is made just for you; People will think your a pro.
